A dashboard laid out like the inbound robotics floor at Amazon in Shakopee, MN. It also finds which associates are trained in which roles, cutting staffing admin time by 90%.
Amazon Fulfillment, Shakopee, MN The Amazon Robotics (AR) Floor Map is a dashboard for the inbound robotics department. It mirrors the department's physical layout and shows key process indicators (KPIs, the numbers used to track how each process is running) in a way that is meant to be easy to understand. It was built in Excel VBA and has since been ported to C++.
The project also automates identifying which associates are trained into which roles. That cut the admin time needed to adjust staffing levels by 90%.
The map was later rebuilt to make heavier use of Dictionary objects (fast key-value lookups) and classes (self-contained building blocks of code). The rebuild improved performance and made the map compatible with other Amazon fulfillment centers across the network, not only Shakopee.
